Former police officer Rafael Horacio Moreno has been found guilty of the culpable homicide of bus driver Sergio David Díaz. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of December 25, 2024, in Lomas del Mirador. Díaz was with friends and family at a party when Moreno approached them in a threatening manner, demanding they turn down the music. Upon receiving a refusal, Moreno drew his firearm, brandished it, and began intimidating the victim. Enraged, Díaz retorted, "You're a real tough guy, who do you think you are?". Moments later, the 75-year-old former officer pulled the trigger, shooting Díaz in the abdomen, which caused his death minutes later. A popular jury found Moreno guilty of culpable homicide and illegal possession of a weapon. The victim's defense attorney stated that he will request house arrest for his client.
